Setting Up Notification Policies for Screen Health Alerts
Notification policies tell Display NOW who to alert, and when, if a screen goes offline or comes back online. Instead of finding out about downtime after the fact, you get an email or text the moment a screen stops reporting in, so you can fix it before it affects what's on the wall. This article walks through creating a policy from start to finish.
Step 1. Display NOW Manager > Notifications
-
From the left sidebar, click Notifications.

Step 2. Display NOW Manager > Notifications > New Policy
-
Click + New Policy in the top right. The Create New Policy form opens.
-
The Notification Policies page lists any policies you've already created, along with your plan badge and policy allowance (for example, Pro Plan and 0 / ∞).
Note: Notification policies are available on paid plans. Your plan and remaining policy count appear in the top right of the page.

Step 3. Name your policy
-
In the Policy Name field, enter a name that identifies the location or set of screens this policy covers, such as a store, site, or building name. This field is required.

Step 4. Select the screens to monitor
Under Screen Selection, choose what this policy watches. At least one screen, folder, or group must be selected.
- Group — Select a group to limit monitoring to the screens inside it.
- Folders (optional) — Add specific folders to include.
- Screens — Add or remove individual screens. Selected items appear as chips; click the × on any chip to remove it.
Note: Selecting a group or My Subscription auto-populates its folders and screens. Remove anything you don't want this policy to monitor.

Step 5. Set your notification triggers
Under Notification Triggers, decide what sends an alert.
- Online Alert — Turn on Notify when screen comes back online to be alerted when a previously offline screen reconnects.
- Offline Alert Threshold (minutes) — Set how long a screen must be offline before an alert is sent. The minimum is 1 minute.
Note: Use a short threshold (for example, 1 minute) for critical screens and a longer one for test screens to cut down on noise.

- Digest Mode (optional) — Turn on Group multiple offline events into a single notification, then set the Digest Window (minutes) to control how long events are collected before one summary email is sent out.

Step 6. Add notification channels
Under Notification Channels, choose how you want to be alerted.
- Set Channel Type to Email or SMS.
- Enter the Destination (an email address, or a US or Canada phone number).
- (Optional) Click + Add Another Channel to send alerts to more than one contact.
Note: Only add channels you have permission to contact. Adding a channel confirms consent was granted.

Step 7. Confirm SMS consent
This step only applies if you add an SMS channel.
When you add an SMS channel, the SMS Consent Required window opens. Review the SMS Notification Terms, then click I Agree. A green SMS Consent Confirmed message appears, and a test text may be sent to the number. Recipients can reply STOP to opt out or START to opt back in at any time.

Step 8. Limit alerts to business hours
Optional.
Under Business Hours, turn on Only send notifications during specific hours to avoid alerts landing outside working times.
- Days of Week — Select the days you want to receive alerts.
- Start Time / End Time — Set your daily window.

- Time Zone — Choose the time zone these hours apply to.
Note: Double-check the Time Zone before saving. If it doesn't match your team or your screens' location, alerts can arrive outside the hours you expect

Step 9. Send a test notification
Optional, but recommended.
Under Test Notification, click Send Test to send a sample alert to every channel on the policy. This is the quickest way to confirm your addresses, numbers, and settings work before the policy goes live.

10. Create the policy
Click Create Policy to save. Your new policy appears on the Notification Policies page and immediately begins monitoring the screens you selected.

Why It Matters
Screens fail quietly. A player loses power, drops off Wi-Fi, or freezes, and nothing on the dashboard changes until someone walks past and notices. A notification policy closes that gap: it turns silent downtime into an immediate email or text, routed only to the people who need it, only during the hours that matter. Setting the right thresholds and a business-hours window means you catch real problems fast without drowning in alerts for screens that are simply powered down overnight.
