How to Add a Windy Weather Map to Your Screens

The Windy media app puts a live, interactive weather map on your displays — wind, temperature, UV index, and more — centered on any location you choose. This guide walks you through adding Windy in Display NOW Manager, from picking a weather layer to saving it to a playlist.

Step 1. Display NOW Manager > Media > Media App Store

  • From the left sidebar, open Media.

Step 2. Open the Windy app.

  • Select the Windy App.

  • The Media name field is pre-filled (for example, Windy: Wind map and weather forecast - 3).
  • Edit it to something you'll recognize later, especially if you plan to add more than one Windy map.

Step 3. Set the location

Under Location, enter the full address you want the map centered on (for example, 944 Dorchester Ave unit 23, Dorchester, MA 02125, USA).

  • Start typing and select the matching address so the map resolves to the right spot.
  • The Preview panel on the right stays on a placeholder until a valid location is set, then loads the live map.

Note: Location is required. The map won't preview or save without it.

Step 4. Choose a weather layer

Open the Weather Layer dropdown and pick the data you want to display:

  • Options include Wind, Temperature, Clouds, Pressure (hPa), Snow Cover, Waves, Humidity, and UV Index.
  • The Preview updates instantly, including the matching color legend (for example, the UV Index layer shows a Low-to-Extreme scale along the bottom).

Step 5. Set the zoom level

Use the Zoom slider — or type a value in the box beside it — to control how tightly the map frames your location.

  • Lower values show a wider regional view; higher values zoom in closer to the address.
  • Drag the slider while watching the Preview and stop at the framing that reads best on-screen.

Step 6. Choose how it plays

Under Streaming type, select how the map is delivered:

  • Playlist: add the map to a playlist so it rotates with your other content.
  • Broadcast: push the map out as a broadcast.

For this guide, we'll use Playlist.

Step 7. Confirm visibility and save

  • Keep the Show this media toggle on so the map is live and available to add to screens.
  • Click Save to finish. The Windy map is now in your media library, ready to drop into a playlist or broadcast.

Why It Matters?

A live weather map turns any screen into a genuinely useful, always-current display — perfect for lobbies, break rooms, and storefronts where people glance up for a quick read on conditions. Set the location and layer once, and Windy keeps it refreshed on its own.
