Manager Classic - To Be Retired in July

The new Manager has everything Classic has, plus Canva, AI-built content, new apps, and smarter scheduling. Your login, screens, playlists, and content all carry over automatically — there's nothing to rebuild. This article explains what's new and how to make the switch.

Why we're moving everyone to the new Manager

Classic Manager has served us well, but it was built before many of the features you're paying for today. Some newer tools — Canva designs, AI content, and several content apps — don't display correctly in Classic at all. Rather than keep two versions running (and keep some of you missing out), we're bringing everyone onto the new Manager so you get the full product. This way we can focus all of our attention on creating a unified experience. We have big plans for the platform and are rapidly adding new integrations.

The good news: you don't lose anything in the move, and most people find the new Manager easier to use, not harder.

What you get in the new Manager

1. New media apps

Windy Weather Radar, Notion, Google Traffic, Google Sheets, Your Daily Loop (done for you content), YouTube (now with support for Playlists and Live Broadcasts), News, Calendar (Google and Microsoft 365)...

In the new Manager they work the way they're meant to, and we add new ones regularly.

2. Create graphics right in Manager

With our all new Designer, you can create graphics and send them to your media library. Choose from a variety of templates and leverage our growing AI design capabilities.

3. Smarter scheduling (dayparting)

Show the right content at the right time automatically: lunch menu at 11, happy hour at 4, game-day specials on weekends. Set it once and let it run. Schedule content just like you schedule events in your calendar.

4. The same simplicity you already like

We kept what made Classic easy. Your screens, media library, and account live where you'd expect them — the layout is cleaner, but the core flow is familiar.

5. Offline Screen Notification Policies

Know when screens go offline and come back online. Create flexible notification policies to notify the right person at the right time. Select the screens you want to alert on, define flexible thresholds, optional digest mode, with support for email and SMS notifications. You can also define business hours to help avoid notification fatigue.

6. Edge Player

We created a purpose built player that is future ready. The new manager will allow you to place orders for these players, included with the Business Edge plan.

What carries over (you don't lose anything)

When you switch, everything moves with you automatically.
You will not need to re-pair screens, re-upload content, or re-enter any 4-letter codes.

How to switch

1. Sign in at manager.displaynow.io with your usual email and password. If you're redirected to the classic UI, click "Switch Now" on the banner that is visible throughout the site.
2. You'll land in the new Manager with all your screens and content already there.
3. Take a look around — your displays are under Displays, your content under Media.
4. That's it. You're on the new Manager.

Tip: If you have the old Classic URL bookmarked, replace the bookmark with `manager.displaynow.io` so you always land in the right place.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to switch?

Yes — we're moving everyone to the new Manager so the whole product works the way it should. Classic is missing features and is no longer being updated. We expect to fully retire Manager Classic by the end of July 2026.

Will my screens go dark during the switch?

No. Your screens keep playing the whole time. Switching the Manager you log into does not interrupt what's on your displays.

I really liked how simple Classic was. Is the new one complicated?

No — most people find it simpler. The everyday tasks (add a screen, change content, set a schedule) take the same number of clicks or fewer. The extra features are there when you want them, out of the way when you don't.

Do I need to do anything technical?

No. If you can sign in, you can use the new Manager. Nothing to install or reconfigure.

Will Classic keep working for now?

Classic is being retired. You may still be able to reach it for a short transition period, but it's no longer maintained and shouldn't be relied on. Move to the new Manager when you see this notice.
